The Zero Emissions Vehicle Transition Lab (ZEVLab) in the Centre for Sustainability and Business at Melbourne Business School is a group of researchers working to accelerate the transition to Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) including electric vehicles and other alternative fuel vehicles.
Realizing the potential of zero-emission mobility requires that billions of individual consumers and fleet managers make the decision to adopt ZEVs in the next two decades. This will only happen if we have well-educated consumers, desirable ZEVs that are as good if not better than the internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles we drive today, ubiquitous and reliable refueling infrastructure, and dramatic reductions in environmental impacts including greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and particulate emissions. We study these transition challenges, from extraction of raw materials through vehicle manufacturing and on-road use to end-of-life disposal, using methods including simulation modeling and conjoint analysis.
